*SNRGK* What? I'm Awake, I'm Awake!

And so ends the era of the apartment toy room.  'Course I finished that last month, but gimme a break!  Lots of crap to unpack and all that...even if much of our time is spent sitting around rather than unpacking.  You don't have to give me a break there, I know.

The November MotUCs Arrive Amidst the Disarray

And so I provide for you a quick shot of the packages (with regards to my current state of disheveledness) and my thoughts, fresh off the top of my head:

PPPHHHHT yeah this one is a present to all the Filmation fans who have been waiting for him, but not to folks like me.  He provides a fine goblet, but otherwise I'm honestly not sure what to do with him.  I could at least do some jokes, but they've restricted him so much by cutting out the bicep swivel and basically making his legs useless with the long skirt (just above his knees).  He's pretty much a standing figure for all intents and purposes, and I don't normally buy those.  Someday I may find a use for him, or otherwise I may cut his skirt so I can at least get some wacky poses out of him.  Otherwise he's delightfully foppy!  I just wish I could DO something with him.

Next Episode of Hoarders

HUUWWWAAAAAGH!  Disorder abounds!

I found out that we'll be moving in to our house a little sooner than expected, so I wanted to get some pics of the old toy room before the move.  Of course...I had meant to finish up with the rest of the MotUC stuff before the move, so they're ALL OVER the floor there.  Normally those wouldn't be there.  The other junk though - that's classic pile of crap!  But hey, why don't we take a look around at the toy room as I know it before it all changes?

Nick TMNT: METALHEAD MELTDOWN

Have you been paying attention, class?  What does Alexx like?  Robotic versions of the main characters?  Yes class, YES INDEED.

Better than Prototypes: Concepts! (SDCC Aug '12)

I had a lot of fun with this figure, but he's a bit of a bitch to take apart over and over, so I didn't go over every single mix that the figure is meant to have.  Still, I'll at least talk about it.  That's good for something, right?  Writing things.

This Thing Better Transform Into A Robot or Something

Wait a second, why did we get one of these?  How am I supposed to keep buying toys?  Now I've got to mow a lawn again, and possibly clean things, and - crap, is that a tree?  Now I have to rake leaves too!  Maybe I'll just cut that down and replace the lawn with dirt.  Yes....yes that will go over well with all the people.  Especially the wife (the one with all the money).

I suppose you can guess this means I'll be off-and-on with the updates, but when is that news?  I did a few recently, but before that I had already been off for about a month!  So nothing new on that end.  However, this may hopefully result in a new setup, as I'll finally be forced to not only clean my toy room, but remake it in it's entirety and perhaps buy some lamps or something I can't afford because I have a house that has more space than an apartment and could possibly need things more important than lamps to light my toys *DEEP BREATH* Anyway, who knows?  We'll see if my quality improves or stays the same with the new surroundings.

Besides, the next important business is continuing to convince all the relatives that we STILL don't want a kid yet...

Snakes Can't Grow Moustaches (June '12)

...the captions are referring to the Horde Prime packaged shot, 'cause they were originally lined up and I totally forgot.  The joke is just based on folks freakin' out 'cause MAA dies in the current continuity Mattel brewing.  I think it's funny, 'cause you know...who cares?  Don't kill 'em if you don't want to.  They're your toys.  Make up whatever story you want!

The Older Brother is Always a Jock (June '12)

...well okay, so he may not necessarily be a "jock" but he's certainly buffer-looking and more chiseled in the face.  One way or another, this is Hordak's bigger, badder, redder older brother HORDE PRIME - MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

FISTO and Mekaneck check out Traverse City

Well okay, they weren't actually in Traverse City, but the wife and I went up there for my birthday, and it pretty much involves a lot of the areas surrounding the city as much as the city itself.

Amazin' Lasers!

So a little while ago I was messing with a laser pointer and seeing how I could light up translucent items in the MotUC line.

A Childhood Drawing Come to Life (May '12)

So Masters of the Universe Classics offered an extra subscription this year: The 30th Anniversary sub.  You saw the first guy: Fearless Photog.  It was the perfect way to get that old 80's contest winner into the toyline, because the 30th Anniversary series is a small batch of figures created by various folks either involved with the line or...well, whoever Mattel contacted that wanted to make a figure.  Most importantly though, they held a new create-a-character contest, so technically we get two winners of such contests in one series!  That's six figures total: Two contest winners (the one from the 80's and a new one), three figures made by inside Mattel folks (two designers and one brand manager), and one made by a big-name comic artist.

Video Game Toys: Sonic The Hedgehog Part 2

In a never-ending attempt to recapture whatever made Sonic so popular back in the day, Sega is constantly trying to bring back the old Sonic feel while mixing it with the new one.  This gave birth to Sonic Generations, and thankfully, an excuse for Jazwares to make classic styled figures!  Of course, I wasn't really looking for anyone beyond classic Robotnik, 'cause I think the basic figures get the general idea of Sonic across just fine....but come on, I'm not gona pass these up!

Video Game Toys: Sonic the Hedgehog Part 1

So I like video games.  They're as much a part of my life as toys, though perhaps not as easily obtained for a good while.  My parents weren't big on getting me video games back in the day, and rightly so, because when I borrowed various systems from friends it was all I did.  I borrowed an NES and perfected Mario 3 and eventually got an NES for my own (an extra from a friend) and fought through Mega Man 3, TMNT, Zelda, Contra, and so on and so forth.  Not long after that I also borrowed a Sega Genesis from time to time and...well...Sonic the Hedgehog.  I mean, there were other greats on the Sega like Castlevania Bloodlines and Jurassic Park (depending on what you had access to; I was limited) but Sonic the Hedgehog was MY THING back then.  So much so that I can still turn on Sonic 3 hooked to Sonic & Knuckles and blast through it without much thought.

Blind Bagged: Transformers Kreon Micro-Changers

If you're unfamiliar with Kre-O; they're Hasbro's answer to Lego.  The bricks work the same and are interchangeable with most Lego or Mega Bloks bricks.  The major thing that separates the various building toys, however, is the little figures they package with them!

Nick TMNT: THE KRAAAAAAAAAANG - Wait, There's More Than One? They Don't All Sound Like Classic Krang, Do They?

'Cause if they sound anything like this then I'm out.  That's too many brains talkin' like frogs that smoked too much jello, or whatever gets your voice to that level of nauseous gooeyness.

Nick TMNT: The Party Dude Abides

As you're all well aware, Michelangelo is a party dude.  It is explicitly stated in the 80's opening theme song, and displayed with Mike's approval by his screaming "PARTAAAAYY!" while performing a most righteous breakdancing backspin.  Michelangelo in a nutshell, folks.  Let's party.

Nick TMNT: They Call 'Em Leo 'Cause Nard Just Didn't Sound Right

Hehe...nard.  Anyway, here's the real leader of the group, Leonardo!  Ya'll know him as the guy with the swords, but this figure's extra accessories really tailor to the name "ninja."  This guy may be my favorite of the four!

Nickelodeon TMNT: Foot Soldierin' It up

Robots?  Humans?  Doesn't matter!  They've always been the backbone of the Foot Clan - and by "backbone" I mean having them broken - so you know there's gona be a fight whenever these mooks are around.  Er...there's gona be fight that's completely out of their favor, I mean.

Back Again with Nick's TMNT: SHREDDER

What's a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle toyline without a guy covered in blades called Shredder?  Nothin'!  That's what.  So here we go!  If there's a TMNT toyline, then I'm gona buy a Shredder.  I'd like to, anyway.  There were a ton of great Shredders over the years, but most of them were back in the day when I had to ask my parents for 'em and...you know, happen to catch the figures in the store.  For instance, I never found Super Shredder!  Dunno why I never ran into him (or why I would want a guy that was around for a few minutes before being crushed under a dock and a massive end-movie "cowabunga.")

Nickelodeon Revives TMNT: Here's Raph and Don!

In case you didn't know: Nickelodeon is going to be bringing back TMNT in September.  So far it's lookin' pretty cool!  I'ma set my DVR to record that sucker but, of course - who has to wait that long to get some TMNT goodness?  Barely anyone!  The toys have been sighted out and about (though they're technically not supposed to hit until 7/29) so you can get your turtle fix before the show airs.  I found these at Toys R Us!

Head Slushies (May '12)

May brought one other freaky monster other than Stinkor: Slush Head!  I've spoken of the New Adventures of He-Man before, but to remind you - it was the He-Man cartoon right on the end of the 80's and into the early 90's.  It didn't do well, mostly because they changed the look of He-Man and Skeletor and took  them away from Eternia...effectively getting rid of everything that anyone knew about He-Man.  Most hated it, so if you gathered much about my personality from this blog, then you can probably guess that I loved it!

Patchouliman (May '12)

Stinkor!  Enemy to Moss Man.  Moss Man smells like pine, and Stinkor smells like...well, patchouli.  Don't know what patchouli smells like?  Well scratch the above picture and sniff your screen!

Thank You Mega Man Network!

I want to thank The Mega Man Network for finding my comic funny enough to win a D-Arts Zero v2!  Since the previous Zero was involved in a...mishap...here's two of the other figures and how they are dealing with the replacement!

Zero Cool

So recently The Mega Man Network put up a contest to win a D-Arts Zero v.2 figure.  The rules for the contest were to show the judges how cool your Mega Man collection was; essentially proving that your collection is cool enough for Zero.  As we all know: Zero is bad like the Power Glove, so I had little trouble in finding some sort of joke to simultaneously show off my collection and the coolness factor of Zero.

INTERMISSION

...not that you need to watch all that.  Just the first thing I think of when I think "intermission."

Anyway, I'm nearly caught up with the current MotUC figures, so I figured I'd post an official hey-I'm-not-just-doing-He-Man-stuff reminder.

Evilmike and his Mighty Forge

Guy named Evilmike over on He-Man.org apparently makes some awesome 3D designs of weaponry from all over the MotU spectrum.  Well, if you've got the model, I guess a website called Shapeways can make 'em!  Evilmike's Shapeways section has all of his current work, and they're all fantastic!

I got a few items from him not long ago, though I will admit that they are of a special plastic that Evilmike helped me get (I don't believe the gray plastic use on my swords is available at Shapeways).

Thunda PAWNCH (Apr. '12)

KHAAAAANN!! (Mar. '12)

February 2012 and the Mighty Batch

February of this year was...expensive.  Technically.  Mattel started the 30th Anniversary subscription, so I'm getting an extra figure every other month or so.  February not only had brought two figures and the 30th guy, but ALSO my subscription exclusive!

BUT...the sub exclusive is paid for at the time of the subscription purchase, so technically it wasn't a drain on the wallet at the time.  Anyway:

Spy Monkey Wants your Money, and I Want You to Give it to Them

So I've spoken about Spy Monkey and their custom weapons before.  I've also told you about how you can't get the ones I showed you.  "ALEXX!", you shout toward my chiseled, handsome and dapper visage.  And I tell you to please, lower your voice.  You'll wake the tigers.  So you continue in a reverent whisper: "What can we buy from Spy Monkey Creations?"

The Horrible Green Giant or Evil-Lyn Needs Some Sun (Dec. '11)

I will do a full pictorial on Demo-Man because this guy is the shit, but for now I'll just keep doin' how I do and post what I did when I got 'em.

The Flying Horse, Bubbly She-Ra, and Elephant Man (Nov. '11)

November brought a...strange batch.  In some ways.  In other ways, it brought some much needed attention to She-Ra!

October 2011 Brought Flipshot - Then I Did Nothing

Yeah, it says Icarius on his card, but that's not his name.  It's Flipshot.  He's the first good guys from the New Adventures of He-Man in the MotUC line!  He was also the ONE other good guy that I had from that toyline, other than two versions of He-Man.

Megator (Aug. '11) along with Leech and Hurricane Hordak (Sept. '11)

No pics of Megator!  Promise I'll do some at one point.  Anyway, he's the Bad Guy giant and he's all green and monstrous.  He also comes with an alternate zombie head, because he died in the past and the Snake Men bring him back from the dead to fight again.  Sooo...awesome!  Giant zombie!

The Many Faces of Man-E-Faces (Aug. '11)

OH MAN - another freak!  And this one is a doozy, I tell ya.  Man-E-Faces is the king of the idea that if you put a bunch of cool things together, then you get something cool out of the collaboration.  This is one of those guys where I swear they just sculpted something they thought boys would like and added a feature that they knew would be fun, but then just slapped any old story to him afterward.

SDCC 2011 and the No Pics (Aug. '11)

Luchador Clawful (July '11)

Another one that didn't get a 200X alternate head, and another one that kinda ticked off some people!  Once again, for me: same with Buzz-Off.  I don't mind that he doesn't have his 200X head, but I do think it would have been a good addition for folks that don't like the goofy vintage head.

Spy Monkey and the Custom Weapons of Awesome

So there's a website called Spy Monkey Creations from which you should buy things.  The pics below were my first Spy Monkey custom items, but sadly they are out of print, so I can't really sell 'em the way I want to.

What Would they Say

There was a post on He-Man.org asking what your figures would say if they could talk.

May through June of 2011 and Nothin' to Show for It

Bunch of cool figures and no pics besides the package shots.  I DONE GOT LAZY.

Nice Rack (Apr. '11)

Tired of seeing Weapons Paks?  Well then how about a Weapons Rack?!

Purple Kitty (Apr. '11)

The Spinny Guy with the Radar Chest (Apr. '11)

I remember him now, but I think I kept forgetting this guy's name when I was a kid.  Think I called him tornado a lot, but mostly he was just that spinny guy.  'Cause you know - that's what I did with him!  Sy-Klone's feature was a small dial on his waist; you spin it with your thumb, and his top half spins around!  His arms were loose when moving outward, so they would always splay out when he spun, so he could punch suckas, spinny style.

There's a Snake in My B...body. My Whole Body (Mar. '11)

Time for a new faction leader!  What do you do when Skeletor gets stale and Hordak is pretty much She-Ra's enemy?  Make a new faction!  THE SNAKE MEN.....WoOoOoOo!  Yeah, I dunno about you, but it never sounds all that impressive.  These guys are supposed to be really powerful, and I never understood why.  There are a lot of them, sure, but how are they any more powerful than any of the other crazy monster people on Eternia?
