Skeletor's Armor for Battling (Mar. '11)

This was another one where I didn't take many pics.  In fact, the pics only came about when I did my modification to his axe.  Lemme explain at'chu:

The original Battle Armor Skeletor only came with a purple Power Sword, so naturally this one was going to come with the same.  Since he's a simple variant, they didn't want to waste too much tooling on him that could go elsewhere.  Still, even if he's a simple variant, it doesn't mean they can't shake him up a little!  Fans asked for two things to make him a little less simple without adding new things: Make the feet purple like the vintage figure, and give him a purple He-Man axe.  Mattel heard both and implimented them!

What I was hoping for with the axe was the reason they gave it too him: in the old cartoon Skeletor randomly carried an axe with a big 'ol magic ball on the top of it instead of his staff.  No idea why, and I don't think it happened often.  I wanted them to make that axe...but once again, that would require new tooling, and this wasn't the place for it.  No problem!  I had a plan from when they showed the axe, and I bought two Weapon Pak 2s so I would have an extra item for my idea.

The second Weapons Pak came with a purple Evil-Lyn staff.  I'm not a big fan of it, but my idea was to take the crystal ball off the top and add it to the top of the axe to make Skeletor's magic axe!  I wasn't sure how I was going to go about it other than cutting off the ball and cutting off the top of the axe and gluing them together...but thankfully jerec350 at He-Man.org had the exact same idea and performed it much better!  He even picked out paints to match the color of the axe.  With his help I cut it similarly and bought the paints, mixed 'em, and made a great looking magic axe for Skelly!

First of all, here's a pic from my old coloring book for the inspiration:

And the finished results:

Now, since I had paint left over, I figured I might as well use it for something.  Sooo...I took one of my extra pink Zodac guns and painted it.

I don't have any real need for Skeletor to have a gun, but there it is!  The point is that these are my first personally painted items, and I'm quite happy with how they turned out!

As for the figure: Same as Battle Armor He-Man, but better...because it's Skeletor.
